Your weekly guide to planetary influences
July 27 to August 2, 2020
by Pam Younghans
Aspects of Note This Week

All times listed are Pacific Daylight Time. For Greenwich Mean Time, add 7 hours.
MON: Jupiter sextile Neptune, Venus quincunx Jupiter, Venus square Neptune, Mercury square Mars, Sun sesquiquadrate Neptune
TUE: Mercury opposite Pallas Athene, Mars square Pallas Athene
THU: Mercury opposite Jupiter, Mercury trine Neptune, Venus quincunx Pluto
FRI: Sun semisquare Venus, Sun trine Chiron
SAT: Mercury opposite Pluto, Mercury square Eris
SUN: Sun square Uranus, Venus semisquare Uranus

IT’S ANOTHER very active week astrologically, with more than a few twists and turns in the road. But we begin the week with a lovely Jupiter-Neptune sextile on Monday that can provide some moments of peace amidst the turmoil, helping us focus our attention on the stillpoint within.

Jupiter and Neptune both have a connection with the sign of Pisces; before Neptune was discovered in 1846, astrologers gave Jupiter rulership of the twelfth sign. Jupiter is now known as the ancient ruler of the sign, and Neptune is the modern ruler. As such, the two planets have an affinity with each other, and work together well when given the opportunity.

JUPITER represents our capacity to seek meaning, to believe in something greater than ourselves, and to risk the unknown and unfamiliar. Neptune symbolizes our ability to transcend duality, to rise above mundane perspectives, and to experience the Oneness of creation. In action, Jupiter magnifies, while Neptune sensitizes. As they link together, we can make significant progress on our spiritual path or in a creative endeavor, and our life philosophy can become more compassionate and heart-centered.

The influence of the Jupiter-Neptune sextile is our companion throughout 2020, with the aspect being exact to the degree on February 20, July 27, and October 14. As these two Piscean rulers collaborate on our behalf, we have the opportunity to access greater inspiration and creativity, and to experience the grace of Divine intervention, if we set our intention for these. A sextile aspect such as this indicates an unlocked door with great potentials on the other side – but, as agents of free will, we must choose both to open that door and to walk through it.

BACK ON THE FARM, the dramas continue to unfold over the week ahead. Most of the challenging aspects involve the planet Mercury; this means that on a personal level, our mental state and our ability to convey and receive information are affected. But, there is much playing out on the physical stage as well, with both Mars and Eris being activated, and in relationships, with Venus also caught in the tangle.

Here’s the play-by-play of the highlights (and lowlights):

On Monday:
  • Mercury square Mars: Irritations, angry words, feelings easily hurt, defensiveness. Be aware of a tendency to react rather than respond.
  • Venus square Neptune: Disillusionment in relationships, lack of clarity, tendency to play rescuer or victim. Also possible financial uncertainty or impracticality. Be aware of a tendency to see only what you want to see in a loved one or in your bank balance.
On Tuesday:
  • Mercury opposite Pallas Athene, and Mars square Pallas Athene: Impatience interferes with our abilities to reason, to speak clearly, and to truly listen to what another person has to say. Battles between the individual and the system. Be aware of a tendency to resist an idea simply based on who proposed it. Take your time in all communications. Breathe.
On Thursday:
  • Mercury opposite Jupiter and trine Neptune: One of the blessings of the week! Our conscious mind (Mercury) is more able to access the energies of the Jupiter-Neptune sextile today. Give yourself the gift of time spent in meditation or a creative project, and be open for insights.
  • Venus quincunx Pluto: A need for an attitude adjustment, especially in regard to relationships. Be aware of ways in which you or others try to manipulate or coerce friends and loved ones. Understand that it is impossible to “make” someone see your point of view. Accept others for who they are, and appreciate the passion behind their words, even if you don’t agree with the words themselves.
On Friday:
  • Sun semisquare Venus and trine Chiron: Once we overcome the obstacle of needing appreciation and approval from others, we can access the healing energies today. The benefits include a boost in self-confidence and renewed fulfillment through personal creativity and self-expression.
On Saturday:
  • Mercury opposite Pluto and square Eris: This is a tough one. People are very passionate and defensive, and may not be thinking clearly.  It’s hard not to feel the tension and anger in mass consciousness now, even if we choose not to dwell in the news cycle. Do your best to release what is not yours. Utilize these energies in a positive way, to make important shifts in your own life as needed, and to discover your deeper truth. Try saying this affirmation, provided by Peggy Black and her ‘team’: “All energy that does not belong to me, I send it back blessed and transformed. All energy I’ve sent forth, I call it back blessed and transformed.”
On Sunday:
  • Sun square Uranus, Venus semisquare Uranus: A day of surprises, on many levels. The rebel within us is strong, and refuses to follow the rules or to be contained or restricted. This is not a good day to try to mend bridges, but rather one in which to perceive what new directions your life is guiding you to take. Ask the restlessness within you to help you see what you are ready to do next. But, also be aware that reactivity is strong today, and do your best to use reason in all decisions.
As you can see, we have our work cut out for us if we want to stay in balance this week! All the more reason to imagine walking through that Jupiter-Neptune door, and to ask for help in maintaining a higher perspective and an open heart in all circumstances.

LAST CHANCE! You can still purchase the video replay, monthly calendars, and slideshow for my “Transmutations & Rebirth” webinar! The class covered the last six months of 2020, including the all-important Jupiter-Saturn alignment in Aquarius in December. To learn more, please send an email with “Webinar Replay” in the subject line to pam@northpointastrology.com, and I’ll reply with next steps.
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This year of uncertainty is an especially powerful one for you, dear Leo. You are experiencing deep changes in your self-concept, and in how you approach a certain area of your life experience. In this area, you will be feeling very restless and even irritable, and quite impatient with circumstances that are not to your liking. It may be time for some major changes, if you find that you have been basing your choices on whether others will approve of you. There’s a strong “I’ve got to be me” vibe about your personal new year. It will teach you a lot about who you really are, while challenging you to live even more authentically. (Solar Return Sun semisquare Venus, trine Chiron, square Uranus)

In Gratitude and Light,
Pam

NorthPoint Astrology Journal: Your weekly guide to planetary influences June 8 to 14, 2020 by Pam Younghans

Aspects of Note This Week
All times listed are Pacific Daylight Time. For Greenwich Mean Time, add 7 hours.
MON: Venus square Ceres
WED: Venus sesquiquadrate Pluto
THU: Sun square Neptune, Venus sextile Chiron
SAT: Mars conjunct Neptune
SUN: Pluto square Eris, Sun semisquare Uranus, Sun quincunx Pluto
THE SPACE OF TIME in between eclipses always feels a bit other-worldly – and with three eclipses on the calendar in June-July, this enhanced awareness of other realms and dimensions will last for the next four weeks at least.

During this time, we may need more rest than usual. Eclipses cause significant shifts in the Earth’s energy field, which means our physical, mental, and emotional bodies are also shifting. The process of adapting to the new frequencies is tiring work, whether or not we’re not consciously aware that we are thus engaged. And, we are likely to be especially tired and drawn inward while the Moon is waning, now through the Solar Eclipse on June 21.

Adding to our sense of life being somewhat dreamy or surreal, Neptune’s mystical influence is heightened throughout the month of June. This is because the planet is moving more and more slowly as it prepares to go retrograde, imprinting its energies more fully with every step. Neptune will eventually come to a standstill on June 22, and then slowly begin to retrace its recent path through Pisces.

VENUS ASPECTS begin our journey this week, bringing forward issues related to love and friendship, alliances and partnerships, finances and material holdings, and creative or artistic activities. Since Venus is currently retrograde, we are in review mode with regard to these themes, looking to the past for answers and resolution.

Here’s a brief overview of this week’s Venus aspects as they might impact relationship issues:

  • On Monday, a Venus-Ceres square draws our attention to any conflict between fulfilling personal self-care needs and our desire to be sensitive to the needs of loved ones. Since Ceres is the Earth Mother goddess, we may be reviewing the role modeling provided by a maternal figure in our childhood, and whether that person set the example of a healthy balance between caring for self and caring for family. We may also sense into how that early role model has impacted how we move through current relationships.
  • On Wednesday, a Venus-Pluto sesquiquadrate brings up resentments that we may still be holding onto from the past. We may also deal with current-day jealousies and manipulations. Pluto always provides an opportunity for us to reveal, investigate, and then purge emotional and psychic residue.
  • On Thursday, a Venus-Chiron trine provides a bridge of healing between friends, lovers, and allies. Communication flows more easily than before, and we feel more confident in our ability to express our truth, while also being willing to listen to another’s opinions.

WE SENSE Neptune’s hand on our shoulder in the last half of this coming week, starting on Thursday, when the Gemini Sun squares Neptune. While this aspect can increase our compassion, we may be overly sensitive, both emotionally and psychically. Boundaries blur, and we easily pick up on others’ thoughts and feelings, perhaps causing us to wonder what we really think and feel.

Another side of a Neptune square occurs through disillusionment, when an ideal or hope is disappointed. All of these challenges can tempt us to withdraw from reality, to choose instead to numb our minds through escapist or addictive activities.

But, a square is a challenge for us to grow. Can we be objective about our circumstances without becoming disillusioned? And can we open our hearts without taking on the pain that others feel? Can we use our minds to sort out fact from fiction? Can we maintain a spiritually-aware perspective while also seeing the truth of a situation?

ON SATURDAY, Neptune is again on the aspects list, when the god of universal oneness aligns with Mars, the god of war. Odd bedfellows? Definitely. But there are many positive potentials we can find in this conjunction.

When these two planets join their energies, we are supported in turning “swords into plowshares and spears into pruning hooks.” In concrete terms, Mars can inspire Neptune into action, making us more likely to behave compassionately. In return, Neptune can instruct Mars to take action only when supported by intuition or higher guidance.

There are potential shadow sides to this conjunction, however. We must guard against taking on the role of victim or martyr. Instead, we can choose to align our actions with the highest definition of unconditional love the ability to stay in our hearts and to hold the energy of love under all conditions.

THIS HIGHER FOCUS will be needed next weekend. On Sunday, a powerful energy is released when the Pluto-Eris square perfects. This is the second of five times this aspect is exact to the degree, with the first occurring on January 26, 2020 and the last occurring on October 9, 2021.

Eris is the goddess of discord. According to mythic tales, she is undeniably self-oriented, taking action based on her own selfish needs, without consideration for how those actions might affect others. Pluto is the god of the underworld, who reveals and transmutes that which is no longer viable.

As these two dwarf planets form a square aspect, we are challenged to confront self-oriented behaviors, to become aware of and transmute an unenlightened self-absorption that has no place in a climate of Oneness. Since both Pluto and Eris have forcefulness in their natures, we can imagine that next weekend will be quite unsettled, and that we will need to consciously call upon the positive attributes of the Mars-Neptune alignment to guide us.

ASTROLOGER Steven Forrest believes that the Pluto-Eris square is the energy behind the COVID-19 pandemic, and he gives eloquent support for that theory. His article on the Pluto-Eris square says in part:

The essential underlying evolutionary purpose of the [Pluto-Eris] configuration is the realization that selfishness – both in individuals and in nations – has just collided with its own end game. The myth of the rugged, independent individual separate from everyone else has finally hit the wall. As we have seen, we are all in this together. Denying that reality simply no longer works in a practical way for anyone. Anyone who does deny it is more likely to get sick. Even money can’t keep anyone safe. Our anger with each other, our divisions, our brutal competitiveness, our sense that national boundaries reflect some immutable law of nature – all of that is collapsing right now before our eyes.”

WE ARE ENTERING the final phase of an incredibly transformational two-year journey that began in early 2019. As promised, the first half of 2020 has been exceptionally powerful, driven by the Saturn-Pluto alignment in January. These energies were then magnified in March-April as Jupiter and Pluto aligned.

The end of June promises to be yet another significant time, with a dynamic Solar Eclipse on the Solstice (June 21) and the second Jupiter-Pluto conjunction on June 29. With so much going on during the last 10 days of June, it’s the perfect time to explore the meanings of all we are experiencing, and to take a look ahead.

To start this webinar, we’ll talk a bit about current energies to get our bearings and to set the stage for what comes next. We’ll then dive into what the planets reveal about the remainder of 2020. An overview of major themes gives us the larger context, and then we’ll move through the highlights of each month, capturing the opportunities and challenges the cosmos have planned for the rest of the calendar year.

Here are just some of the transition points that we’ll explore in depth:

  • The Lunar Eclipse on July 4-5, the third in a trio of eclipses this year, and especially powerful for those who live in the U.S.
  • Opportunities for spiritual and creative expansion when Jupiter sextiles Neptune on July 27 and October 12
  • Surprises, breakthroughs, and breakdowns in early August
  • August through October, a repeat of the energies we worked with in February and March 2020
  • On August 29 and November 7, Pluto reactivates the degree and the effects of January’s Saturn-Pluto alignment
  • Fireworks in early October as Mars conjoins feisty Eris and squares Pluto
  • A pivotal New Moon and shake-up mid October
  • An exceedingly potent time of transformation and revelation early November, as Jupiter, Pallas Athene, and Pluto all align
  • A Lunar Eclipse in late November followed by a Total Solar Eclipse in December
  • A very eventful Solstice week in December, as the long-awaited Jupiter-Saturn alignment in Aquarius occurs on the 21st, followed by Mars conjunct Eris on the 22nd and Mars square Pluto on the 23rd

I hope you can join us for this webinar! And, if you can’t attend live on the day of the event, no worries – the webinar will be recorded. The replay link will be sent to all registrants.

To register, please visit https://newpamjuly2020.eventbrite.com. Once you register, you’ll receive confirmation and follow-up emails from @eventbrite.com. Before the class, you’ll also receive calendars for July through December, to print and use for note-taking.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: You are crossing a river in the fog this year, dear Gemini. You are used to using your well-developed mind to gather information, which helps you make sense of situations and know what actions to take. But this year, you find that your mind does not have all the answers, and that you must learn to navigate your course more intuitively than rationally. This year you grow through having trust and faith in as-yet unknown outcomes. At the same time, the challenge is to not give up, to feel you cannot navigate at all. Faith is not about giving up; it is about surrendering to being guided at each step, rather than knowing where each step will land, or where the path will ultimately lead. (Solar Return Sun square Mars, square Neptune)

In Gratitude and Light,

Pam

NorthPoint Astrology Journal: Your weekly guide to planetary influences April 20 to 26, 2020 by Pam Younghans

I am a bit late on this post but the information, aspects and cycles affect us over time,
so it is relevant for awhile. ~PB

NorthPoint Astrology Journal

by Pam Younghans
Aspects of Note This Week
All times listed are Pacific DaylightTime. For Greenwich Mean Time, add 7 hours.
MON: Sun square Saturn
WED: New Moon 7:25 p.m. PDT
THU: Ceres enters Pisces
FRI: Sun semisquare Neptune, Mercury conjunct Eris
SAT: Mercury square Pluto, Pluto stations retrograde, Venus sesquiquadrate Saturn, Mercury square Jupiter
SUN: Sun conjunct Uranus

ONE of our spiritual tasks this week – and throughout these uncertain times – is to find beauty and peace amidst otherwise stressful conditions. While we may not always be as successful at this as we would like to be, with time, we can train ourselves with new habits of thought and practice.

We are tested in these new skills on Monday, when the Taurus Sun is square Saturn. Hard aspects involving Saturn usually provide a reality check on some level. They can feel heavy or even evoke some fear, requiring us to develop greater maturity, patience, and inner strength.

IN THE OUTER WORLD, this square represents the need to take stock of how we’ve been managing the resources that we rely on to support ourselves physically. These resources include the environment, food supply, finances, and material goods. Under this influence, we may be especially aware of lack or insecurity in one or more of these areas. But, this awareness is ultimately helpful, for it allows us to make necessary course corrections.

On a personal growth level, our challenge is to strengthen our sense of inner security, rather than relying on outer circumstances to reassure us. If we require outer forms to stabilize before we become peaceful within, we will be always checking conditions to make sure we’re still safe. Once we find an inner serenity, our sense of well being is no longer controlled by the latest news release.

A NEW LUNAR CYCLE begins at 7:25 p.m. PDT on Wednesday, when the Sun and Moon align at 3°24′ Taurus. With the New Moon in close proximity to unpredictable Uranus, we can anticipate some surprises this week, and over the next four weeks as the Moon waxes and then wanes. And yet, the New Moon is also in square aspect to Saturn, reminding us of that need to focus on inner stability as the waves of change continue to roll through our experience.

The New Moon is also in harmonious aspect with the nodal axis, those points in space that reveal our karmic past and evolutionary future. This means that our new lunar cycle can potentially play an important role in moving us toward a higher destiny, one that is guided more by personal connections and caring (North Node in Cancer) than by the controls wielded by authority (South Node in Capricorn).

This lunation provides an opportunity for us to integrate the qualities of the Divine Feminine even more fully into our beings. With the nodes scheduled to change signs on May 4, we are nearing a completion point of these lessons – so it’s time to show the universe what we’ve learned.

CONDITIONS are quite variable in the last half of the week. Protests have already been on the rise since April 10, when Mercury, the planet of Communication, entered assertive Aries. This week, Mercury aligns with the dwarf planet Eris (Friday), and then squares Pluto and Jupiter (Saturday).

These aspects indicate an intensification of clashes between individual rights and the power of government. Orators may feel especially impassioned under this influence, but the wiser of them will understand their responsibility for what actions their words could incite.
On an individual level, tempers are likely to be short, and words can be laser-like in their ability to cut through to the heart of a matter. Although we may feel driven to speak a truth, we must also be aware of the power of words to hurt or heal.

THE POTENCY of the square between Mercury/Eris and Jupiter/Pluto is even greater than it might be at other times, because Pluto stations retrograde on Saturday. Whenever a planet changes direction – from direct to retrograde (backward) or vice versa – it must slow to a standstill before it reverses course. As it reaches its “station,” we feel its effects even more strongly than at other times.

Because this weekend’s influences are so far-reaching, we must consider other manifestations that go even deeper than an angry exchange or two. Pluto reveals what has been hidden, Mercury conveys information, Eris demands to be heard, and Jupiter magnifies the situation. As such, suspicions are more easily aroused, and resentments that have been building reach the surface. Everything seems exaggerated, as if we were looking into a distorting mirror at the carnival. Conspiracy theories abound, and there is an obsession with getting to the truth of the matter.

Since these themes “christen” Pluto’s retrograde phase, they will continue to play out over the next five months. It is interesting to note that when Pluto finally stations direct on October 4, it will be exactly square retrograde Mars. That is when we are likely to see additional fall-out from whatever issues arise this week, and perhaps an even more proactive response.

NEXT SUNDAY is the exact alignment between the Sun and Uranus. This influence, which is contained in the New Moon chart, gains full expression over the weekend. This marks only the second time that the two planets have aligned since Uranus entered Taurus in 2018.

We usually expect dramatic events when the Sun and Uranus align, and their first alignment in Taurus on April 22, 2019, lived up to its reputation. That week, pertinent news headlines included the fire at Notre Dame cathedral, a speech by Greta Thunberg at the Extinction Rebellion protest in London, a mudslide in Myanmar that buried more than 50 jade miners, and two large earthquakes in the Philippines.

Uranian events often shake our foundations, either literally or figuratively. Earthquakes, volcanoes, mudslides, and other acts of nature are common when Uranus is strong, especially with the planet now in earthy Taurus.

MANIFESTATIONS of Uranus can be disruptive, since they usually involve sudden changes that throw us off balance at first. But, there’s a much more palatable expression of Uranus that we can take advantage of this week.

At its highest expression, Uranus is associated with higher consciousness. It is called the “higher octave” of Mercury, with Mercury representing the logical mind, and Uranus symbolizing the Greater Mind.

If you are doing any work in retraining your brain, this is a powerful week to see advancements. Meditations that open us up to insights from a higher form of intelligence are not only supported but enhanced. If you’ve been blessed with heightened intuitive or extrasensory experiences lately, you are likely to see even more developments over the coming days.

We may experience a form of “lift off” this week, especially around the time that the Moon exactly aligns with Uranus (Thursday, April 23, at 1:29 a.m. PDT) and the Sun-Uranus conjunction (Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 a.m. PDT). Be sure to ground yourself several times a day, and call in Divine Light to make sure your experiences are of the highest frequency.

FOR THOSE who are tracking lunar aspects, here is this week’s watch list:

  • Moon in Aries square Pluto: Wed, Apr 22, 2:31 a.m. PDT
  • Moon in Aries square Jupiter: Wed, Apr 22, 5:32 a.m. PDT
  • Moon in Taurus square Saturn: Wed, Apr 22, 3:39 p.m. PDT
  • Moon in Taurus conjunct Uranus: Thu, April 23, 1:29 a.m. PDT
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This is a powerful year for you, on multiple levels. Your Taurean need for consistency is challenged, requiring you to find that longed-for inner peace through conscious practice. At the same time, you are opening to a more cosmic perspective on reality. Although exciting, this can also be disconcerting for earthy Taurus. If you allow the shift to occur, and let go of your old definitions of self, you will find new opportunities await you. The doors that are opening will take you light years beyond the confines of your usual existence, if you choose to step through them. (Solar Return Sun square Jupiter, square Saturn, conjunct Uranus, semisquare Neptune)

Aspects of Note This Week
All times listed are Pacific Standard Time. For Greenwich Mean Time, add 8 hours.
MON: Sun enters Aquarius, Venus semisquare Saturn
WED: Sun semisquare Neptune, Sun sextile Chiron, Sun square Uranus
THU: Venus sextile Jupiter, Venus semisquare Ceres
FRI: New Moon 1:41 p.m. PST, Uranus trine Pallas Athene
SAT: Mercury sextile Mars
SUN: Pluto square Eris, Mercury semisquare Chiron, Venus square Mars

THE EXACT Saturn-Pluto alignment, when both planets were at precisely the same degree of Capricorn, is now technically behind us. But major astrological events such as this usually affect us for many months beyond the moment of their perfection. It’s impossible to contain the ripple of waves once a large boulder has been dropped into a body of water. The displacement of energies continues to play itself out for quite a while.

.

And, with so many planets joining Saturn and Pluto in earthy Capricorn at the time of their rendezvous — plus the Lunar Eclipse that occurred two days before — it’s not surprising that we’ve been feeling overwhelmed. The world has been feeling top-heavy, and for some, it’s turned completely upside down.
.
IMAGINE trying to keep your shoulders level while carrying a very heavy weight in one hand, and you can appreciate the effect of having so many planets in one sign. Perhaps you are likewise feeling that your life has shifted out of balance, due to a specific heavy load you are carrying. Or, it may be the sheer magnitude of juggling so much at once that is causing overwhelm.
.
Some of the balls we are juggling are actually filled with light, for there is also magic that we can access now. As Saturn and Pluto dismantle social systems and personal patterns, they are also dismantling time and other constructs that have held physical reality separate from other dimensions.
.

PERHAPS you are feeling “head over heels” rather than feeling that life has turned upside-down. But, whether you feel like you are floating or your feet feel as heavy as lead, it is very important to get plenty of rest and good sleep right now.

.

As physical structures, our bodies are deeply affected by this Saturn-Pluto alignment in Capricorn. Many people are experiencing health issues, often in their joints, bones, teeth, and other bodily systems ruled by Capricorn. While we can bemoan having these symptoms, it may help to remember that these planets are only revealing where there is structural weakness, not causing it.
.
This is our opportunity to clear out what is of a lower vibration so that we can rebuild with higher-frequency “materials.” We can assist the process by raising the vibration of our mental and emotional bodies. One way to do this is by connecting with the light of our Divine Self that resides at the center of our being. Some people imagine this as a pole of light along the spine, or a sphere of light in the heart area.
.
Once we connect there, we can then imagine this light of our Being radiating out, expanding into our physical, emotional, and mental bodies. This can be very helpful in clearing out all that is of a lower frequency, while also providing a higher vibration to be used in the rebuilding process.

.

THE GRADUAL MIGRATION of the faster-moving planets out of Capricorn should help us move beyond some of the places where we’ve been feeling stuck. Mercury moved into Aquarius last Friday, bringing forward new information that shifted our perspective in some way. As a result, we now have a clearer view of the road ahead.

.

This Monday, the Sun also enters Aquarius, supporting us to move beyond restrictions and into a new paradigm. And, Ceres will enter Aquarius at the end of this month, helping us more fully accept, appreciate, and support individual differences.

.

SOME SURPRISES
are again in store this week. The Sun squares unpredictable Uranus on Wednesday, and Friday’s New Moon is also square that planet. This lunation marks the end of the official “eclipse season,” but the Uranus aspects may make it feel like we still are engaged with eclipse-like energies.

.
Sometimes, surprises seem to be arranged simply to keep us flexible. Other times, they are larger in scope – literal or symbolic earthquakes or lightning bolts – designed to jar us out of complacency or a comfort zone, so that we might be liberated in some way. Most of us tend to become creatures of habit over time. One of Uranus’ task is to alter our course so that we no longer travel the same rutted road we are used to taking.

.

THE NEW MOON
occurs at 1:41 p.m. PST on Friday, when the Sun and Moon are both at 04°21′ Aquarius. The square to Uranus is the most significant aspect in the New Moon chart, indicating that the coming lunar cycle is one of continued change.

.

Uranus has been called the “god of chaos,” and we often see somewhat chaotic situations occurring when it is activated. B
ut it also has higher vibrational qualities, revealed through the translation of the Greek word Ouranos (Uranus), which means “the sky crowned with stars.”

.

Astrologer Liz Greene writes that Uranus “reflects our universal human longing to know where we are going and why.” She acknowledges that:

.

“Many people find it difficult to express Uranus, for they are required to detach themselves from their immediate emotional needs and look toward a bigger future design … Yet if we avoid expressing Uranus, its creative power will erupt into our world in spite of
us – through change that we unconsciously need, and in some cases even provoke, but which we may experience as personally devastating when it arrives. The heavenly vision of Uranus may sometimes feel impersonal and cold, yet it offers us greater freedom through a new and broader perspective on our lives.”

.

THE DIVERGENT ROAD that we start to walk with this Aquarian New Moon is likely to take us into unknown territory, where we continually need to broaden our perspective. We may also feel very strongly about certain issues, given that the Moon is aligned with the fixed star Alshat. Roderick Kidston writes that Alshat “prompts an urge to stand for something,” but that it also conveys great strength and courage.

.

This new lunar cycle will inspire many to take a stand, speak loudly, and perhaps even demand to be heard. How we each use this influence depends on our core values, and how we want to direct its powerful energies.

WEBINAR ANNOUNCEMENT

After the Tornado
Airing Live and Recorded for Replay
Thursday, January 30, 2020
4 pm PST | 5 pm MST | 6 pm CST | 7 pm EST | 12 midnight GMT

AS THE FIRST SCENES of “The Wizard of Oz” unfold, a tornado upends Dorothy’s world. It is the beginning of her hero’s journey, through which she eventually discovers how strong she truly is. Along the way, she encounters like-minded souls and gains a new sense of connection and community.
.

We’ve been talking for months about the astrological tornado of January 2020. During a single week, from January 8 to 15, an amazing number of significant planetary events occurred, clustered around a powerful Lunar Eclipse and the alignment between Saturn and Pluto.
.

IN THIS 90-MINUTE WEBINAR, I will first talk about how our experiences in January relate to these astrological events. This review is important to undertake, because our path through the rest of 2020 directly relates to what occurs in January.
.

From there, we’ll “ease on down the road” and explore in more depth the primary opportunities and obstacles we’ll encounter in the first half of 2020. Highlights include:

  • Jupiter’s alignments with Pluto, when spin-off tornados may occur, but we also have the opportunity for deep systemic change
  • Saturn’s entry into Aquarius and return to Capricorn, demanding progress and requiring completion of the old
  • The shift of the nodal axis into Gemini/Sagittarius, adding another level of karmic completion and evolutionary growth into the dynamic
  • The alignments of Pallas Athena with Jupiter and Pluto, inspiring new solutions and the empowerment of the feminine

Before the class airs, you’ll receive calendars of January through June, which you can use for note-taking. During the last half of class, we’ll move week-by-week through each monthly calendar, noting when there are important events. As always, I will do my best to “bring the stars down to Earth,” explaining in practical terms what the planets are doing, how they may affect us, and how we can best navigate these times by focusing on higher purposes and our own capacity for spiritual maturity.
.

I hope you can join us! If you can’t attend live, the class is recorded for replay at your convenience. All registrants receive an email with a link to the replay, audio replay, and PDF slideshow.

TO REGISTER: Visit https://pamfeb-june2020.eventbrite.com. The class fee is $33. Payment and registration may be handled online via PayPal or by check to Elsie Kerns, 2007 Rabbit Run Rd., Marlton, NJ 08053.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK:Each time we think we know ourselves, we are then challenged to further refine our self-awareness. Over the coming year, you will experience yet another phase of self-redefinition. The urge to speak your truth is stronger than ever, and yet it can cause conflict and separation if you are not alert to right timing. If those who hear your ideas are not truly receptive, your words will fall on “deaf ears,” and your frustration will grow. Your unique insights and perspectives are needed, but you will need to apply discipline and foresight to how and when they are shared. This is not manipulation; it is being truly in accord with your inner guidance, which knows best timing for all endeavors. (Solar Return Sun square Uranus)
