Banging Your Drum Vs Making A Lot Of Noise: November’s Scorpio New Moon | Lynda Hill’s Sabian Symbols

Banging Your Drum Vs Making A Lot Of Noise: November’s Scorpio New Moon | Lynda Hill’s Sabian Symbols

(excerpt):

November’s new Moon occurs on the 18th, and, it’s an interesting new Moon with lots of promise and rewards, although it could have some frustration amongst the energies going on. The degree of the new Moon is Scorpio 26.19, and, it is quincunx (in a 150 degree aspect) to Uranus, and, it’s semi-sextile Saturn. This can have us feeling a little held back, or, it can have us feeling that some adjustments needs to be made that can feel like going over old ground, rather than covering the new. Still, we can change a lot of our paradigms as this new Moon is trine Chiron, and that can have us examining The Stories That We Tell Ourselves in order to find where we can be changing our tune.

And, changing our tune is a very useful thing to do right now. Of course, we might be quite happy with the tune we’re playing, but, other might not be, or, we might feel that we’ve played that tune long enough and we would do well to try out another melody – another aspects of ourselves that we can resonate with.

Part of the deal at the moment is recognising who belongs in our lives and who doesn’t. We may have people appearing that are downright challenging, horrid, accusatory, dismissive, etc, and, we might wonder what we’re doing continuing to entertain the thought of having them in our sphere. If they break through your boundaries, if they hurt you, accuse you, throw things at you that don’t belong to you, if they are so out of left field that you don’t want them in your life anymore, this can be a time to let them go, to free them up, along with freeing yourself up (which is actually more important).

After all, after Chiron is on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD, it moves onto Pisces 26: A NEW MOON REVEALS THAT IT’S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO GO AHEAD WITH THEIR DIFFERENT PROJECTS. So, it could be time for you to split off and go in a different direction OR it could be time for you to concentrate on what you need in order to grow and prosper without being concerned about other peoples’ direction in amongst it. The trick is to stay focused on your needs in amongst what’s going on.

Redemption and relief is possible, always, but, especially now as Saturn is smack on the Galactic Center. Scorpio new Moon set for Washington DC We are being asked to get straight and real about our desires, our thoughts, the things that we ‘put out there’. What do we want to have in our lives? What do we want to be making of our lives? What is the best use of the Law Of Attraction at the moment? How can we best focus on what we want, especially if we tend to focus on what others want and forget our own needs, wishes and desires.

With Saturn on the Galactic Center on Sagittarius 27: A SCULPTOR’S VISION IS TAKING FORM, we might be seeing our thoughts readily manifesting into situations, conversations and outcomes almost before we’ve had a chance to truly think about them. We are likely to find many synchronicities and psychic occurrences, some of which can be mind-blowing and revelatory. We are being asked, perhaps now more than ever, to keep a watch on our thoughts. Where are our intentions taking us? Where are we directing ourselves in our day-to-day lives?

Saturn and Chiron are square to each other, so, we are being asked to examine those stories, those tales that we tell every single day. This can equate to the things we say to ourselves about ourselves, but, it can also show up where we talk about others, along with the stories that cross our minds a million times a day which are time wasting, sabotaging, of no use or just plain useless. It’s by noticing what crosses your mind that you can drop the negative or non productive thoughts with a statement of ‘not useful to me’, ‘don’t need to think about that’, or, just merely switching to another mode of thought. Doing this can lead to major insights into how our mind works, and, we will find that we go into those negative time wasting spaces less and less. This is, after all, a time to drop our ‘wounds’, the worn-out things from the past that no longer serve us in order to move into the future less encumbered, less triggered and less reactionary.

Chiron, the Wounded Healer and The Stories That We Tell Ourselves, is on a degree that speaks of sorting out the wheat from the chaff, the good from the not-so-good, the people that we want to keep in our lives from the ones that we realise are bad for us, holding us back, undermining us, or, just generally being a damp squib sapping us of our energies. Chiron is on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD. Chiron has spent many months on this degree over the several months, and, we have had an increased awareness about (or intolerance for) those who abuse our trust, those who overstep their boundaries, those who really should not have a place of power and authority in our lives.

Adding to the ability to see where we would do well to change our lives is the trine between Saturn and Uranus. This can help us to get straight about what we want, and, it can help us to get our ducks in a row to achieve those things. We can see where we might do better by being more disciplined and organised while still being real about our desires for an authentic life; one not dictated by others against our best wishes.

One of the trickier aspects of this new Moon is the quincunx (150 degree aspect) between the new Moon and Uranus. I see the quincunx (some people call it the inconjunct) as being ‘the itch that is hard to scratch’. We may see where we want to make changes, but, it’s like we can’t see around corners, we sometimes have to wait, to make a better or bigger plan, to make sure we can see where we’re heading before making some of the bigger commitments or decisions. Or course, life goes on and we can’t always delay making big decisions, but, if we can hold off and gather more information, it can be good to do it now as there might be more information to be gained.

There is also the semi-sextile from the new Moon to Saturn; this can also have us hedging our bets and holding off – if at all possible – in order to feel more sure and settled about decisions made now.

One of the bigger aspects at this new Moon is the square between Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn. This has a super-charged energy about it as the Sabian Symbols for Mars around this new Moon are some of the most challenging in the entire zodiac,

Libra 18: TWO MEN PLACED UNDER ARREST ARE BROUGHT BEFORE THE TRIBUNAL OF SOCIETY TO GIVE AN ACCOUNTING FOR THEIR ACTIONS, and, Libra 19: A GANG OF ROBBERS IN HIDING.

These two degrees are highlighted very soon after the new Moon, and, with the square to Pluto in Capricorn 18: THE UNION JACK FLIES FROM A NEW BRITISH WARSHIP, we might find a lot of things being revealed, a lot of energies feeling rather gnarly and problematic, and, a lot of anger or frustration might result. Of course, as often happens, these Symbols may manifest on the outside, most probably in the world of politics, although it could be that we will hear more sex scandals out of the entertainment and political worlds. (A caveat here: We don’t always feel all of these energies ourselves, but, we will often see them in the world around us…).

The biggest promise of this Mars/Pluto square is one of transformation. Through feeling our feelings, acknowledging what’s really going on, watching and listening to the truth of matters, etc, we can have a huge transformation and one that takes us into a new way of being. We may have to see where we’re being challenged to stay in our own power, to own our own truth, to stand up and be strong. This can be easier said than done, but, with careful exploration of the energies around us, we can step up to a stronger sense of self. It may be necessary to let others go from your life, to drop the stories that no longer serve around being triggered or set off in ways that no longer serve you (they probably haven’t served us for a long time…).

Mars in Libra, especially with this new Moon in Scorpio, along with the square from Mars to Pluto in Facebook_1510869403362Capricorn, can show us where we’ve been sacrificing ourselves, being ‘yes’ people instead of thinking what it is that we actually want, bending over to help others while putting our own needs on the back burner, etc. This could be a time of finding that you can say ‘no’ (indeed, sometimes loudly), you can cut off from those who really don’t add anything worthwhile to your life or existence, you can block them and let them go on their own way. There can be a great sense of liberation and release, although, at first, it may be somewhat painful as realizations and pennies dropping can have us backing off from people, situations, events, memories or whatever – especially if we thought that we would always be there for each other.

This type of growth shown by Mars and Pluto in square (especially in Libra and Capricorn) can be very maturing and rewarding, but we are being asked to really identify boundaries. Fighting is not going to work, it never particularly does, but especially not now. We need to be firm and not waver or feel guilt or that we’ve done something wrong (unless, of course, we really feel that we have transgressed our usual boundaries, in which case we will do well to forgive ourselves and let things lie for a little while while they sort themselves out.

The pic on the right with the saying “Cut the poison out of your life…” can relate to not entertaining useless thoughts, opinions, beliefs, etc. When negative trains of thought come up, it is very useful to just drop them, let them go, say to yourself “not now, not ever, do I need to think about this”, and, just drop it. Otherwise, we can find that Mars and Pluto at this Scorpionic new Moon can have us going over and over old stories, rehashing old wounds and just perpetuating the very difficulties that we would rather transcend. Out with the old and in with the new, more positive, more vibrant and more sustaining.

Of course, there’s also the Venus/Jupiter conjunction in Scorpio. Jupiter on Scorpio 9: A DENTIST AT WORK, along with Venus on Scorpio 14: TELEPHONE LINESMEN AT WORK INSTALLING NEW CONNECTIONS, is a fabulous and helpful energy that can be very healing and rewarding. ‘Installing new connections’ can see us reaching out to new people, new opportunities, new ways of connecting with others, opportunities, places, situations, events, etc, that further us and can take us into bigger and more rewarding outcomes. Venus and Jupiter together hold the promise of so much of the good and rewarding, and, we might be surprised where it takes us as the story continues to unfold through and after this new Moon! Abundance, expansion, goodness, truth telling, etc, can prevail, especially if we stand in our power and see the goodness in the world – there truly is so much goodness to be seen, felt, experienced and celebrated!

There’s more that can be said about this full Moon (there always is) but, a lot of it is covered in the list of Sabian Symbols for the planets below –

The new Moon each month marks a time of new beginnings and realisations. It’s like a birth after a time of gestation or being ‘in the womb’. Here, the light begins to return and we can see new beginnings and possibilities. A new Moon means that the Sun and the Moon are both together – bringing a synergy of their energies together. The new Moon is a perfect time to set your intentions for the future. This period is wonderful for planting seeds of whatever kind. What do you want to manifest in your future? Whether you write it down, sing about it or just hold the thought forms in your mind, doing this at the new Moon can realise some fabulous results around the things that you want to draw into your life.

The new Moon is on Scorpio 27: A MILITARY BAND MARCHES NOISILY ON THROUGH THE CITY STREETS – the following, and, the above quotes, are taken from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom

November’s Taurus full Moon occurs on November 4, and, it’s a rather Jupiterian lunation. Jupiter, the planet of good luck, abundance and expansion, is conjunct the Sun and opposite the Moon, bringing with it a sense of optimism in amongst some of the more challenging energies that are around at this time.

Jupiter is on a degree that can speak of heading off to make one’s fortune, finding a more rewarding and satisfying place to be, work to do, positions to fill, etc. Jupiter is on Scorpio 6: A GOLD RUSH TEARS MEN AWAY FROM THEIR NATIVE SOIL. Jupiter on this degree, and, it being in Scorpio, can bring all kinds of good financial luck our way, especially if we are connecting in with positive thoughts and directions. We can find our ‘pot of gold’ in all sorts of ways – we just have to be open to good things flowing our way.

An even tighter aspect to this full Moon is the trine to the Sun and the sextile to the Moon from Neptune. It is a very tight aspect, and, it tells us that if we are in alignment with our dreams, hopes and wishes, we can see all kinds of things coming true now. This is especially true if we are mindful and tune into the Law Of Attraction. Making affirmations, though, may not be enough – we have to assume that we have the things we want; that we inhabit the feeling of having the things we want in our lives, and, we don’t concentrate on thinking about the things we don’t have.

Venus, the ruler of Taurus, and therefore the ruler of this Taurus full Moon, is in Libra, the other sign ruled by Venus, Taurus full Moon set for Washington DC and, it is exactly almost to the minute opposite Uranus, which can bring about some surprising, often unexpected and sometimes shocking, outcomes. Sometimes we see something coming with this type of aspect to Venus, sometimes we don’t. The main message from this Venus/Uranus opposition is to let go of those things whether they are possessions, relationships, people, jobs, positions, etc, that are no longer working for us. With Uranus on Aries 26: A MAN POSSESSED OF MORE GIFTS THAN HE CAN HOLD, we can find ourselves either letting go of the old, the outworn or the outgrown OR dropping the ball as we find that our hands are full enough and we can’t quite grasp all the things we might perhaps like to be holding onto. That degree of Uranus can also show that we have so many ‘gifts’, talents, abilities, etc, that we might need to focus on some and let go of the others. There is certainly a lot of potential in this opposition, but, we might find our grip loosening on something in order to be able to take hold of something else. Venus is also in a sextile aspect with Saturn. It’s by being firm and nailing down decisions that we can focus on what’s truly important and bring resolutions to situations that may have been asking for answers.

We also have Mars making a closing square to Pluto over the coming two weeks. This aspect will perfect at the next new Moon, which will be interesting as it talks about either being released from bondage and chains and problems OR being handcuffed, arrested and charged. In other words, we have a very interesting few weeks ahead.

In amongst it all, we have Chiron on Pisces 25: THE PURGING OF THE PRIESTHOOD, squaring Saturn on Sagittarius 25: A CHUBBY LITTLE RICH BOY RIDES UPON A HOBBYHORSE. It seems that for some, the chickens have come home to roost. For others, many may feel that they can step into a position of authority that they have perhaps long waited to occupy. Often this is about doing things you want to do rather than things society says you should be doing. If you’re on the right track, helping others, being of service to the world, there can be rewards here. If one is abusing faith, hope and trust, there can be some rather interesting and severe undoing. We are seeing both scenarios happening in the world around us, and, many of us may be feeling these things within ourselves. The recent sex scandals in Hollywood and elsewhere really fit these Symbols, as do the scandals in government and business that we’re seeing again and again lately.

With Uranus and Saturn in a closing and close fire trine, we are being shown the way to finding a sense of being organised, following our own paths, finding our way out of restrictions and limitations. We may have to jettison some things, though, as Uranus is on a degree that can talk about keeping some things while letting go of others. We may also have to focus on one or two things instead of on a wide variety of things as we could just find ourselves juggling and not being able to concentrate enough if our energies are scattered. This is especially so as Uranus is on Aries 26: A MAN POSSESSED OF MORE GIFTS THAN HE CAN POSSIBLY HOLD. These can be physical possessions, gifts, talents, possibilities, or, memories. Whatever we are juggling, if we’re dropping some balls, we might want to see what needs to be dropped all together.

So, in amongst it all, there are some very positive aspects to this full Moon, as long as we are not casting ourselves in the role of Cinderella. I see the 12th degree of fixed; Taurus 12, Leo 12, Scorpio 12 and Aquarius 12, as being the grand cross of Cinderella. We can either be at the ball, have the invite, the ticket in, sitting at the good table with good people around us, with a nice dress, shoes and looking like a million dollars OR we might find ourselves at home scrubbing the floors. The 12th degree of fixed can talk about those variables. And, this full Moon is on this axis.

The big aspect that needs perhaps our fullest awareness, though, to me, are the Symbols for the nodal axis. The Moon’s south node is on a degree that can have us wondering when things are going to lighten up. It can have us staring into a void and feeling like life may never change. We may feel lonely, cast adrift and uncertain about our future. Having said that, it is the south node, so, we can definitely make some measures to steer clear of this energy, even if we may see it in the world around us. The south node is on Aquarius 21: A WOMAN DISAPPOINTED AND DISILLUSIONED, COURAGEOUSLY FACING THE FUTURE. This energy can rather easily be seen through the ‘Me Too’ movement that we’ve been seeing on social media.

The Moon’s north node is not much easier as we may wonder if we’re ever going to get anywhere (we are, we have a lot going on in this full Moon chart that says as much). It’s on Leo 21: INTOXICATED CHICKENS DIZZILY FLAPPING THEIR WINGS TRYING TO FLY. This nodal axis is not an easy one, but, if we keep our wits about us, make some good decisions, see our lives unfolding in the ways we want and keep steering a direct course straight ahead, we will get past this time which may feel rather disorienting. Although obviously not always, I do often see this opposition of Leo and Aquarius 21 as being one of the disillusionment and loneliness that can erupt from alcoholism, drugs, being alone, feeling neglected, etc.

I believe that, if we concentrate on the dream, we may more easily see and find ourselves through to the reality that we want. Jupiter and Neptune seem to be able to deliver on that on this full Moon. We, however, must keep the faith.

As many of you know, and thank you so much to those who have contributed, my daughter Jess started a gofundme to clear debts that have been overwhelmingly accrued from publishing my book, building my website, etc. I have had some wonderful help and donations, but, of course, can use some more help to continue the work.

If you can, please do contribute to the fund raiser here. gofundme 🙂 Every donation is so appreciated!

The full Moon each month marks a time of heightened energies and events. It often marks the culmination of the energies released at the new Moon. Emotions can be supercharged as the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the zodiac and illumination is increased – it’s like we can see in the dark – and we can be hyper-aware as well as being hyper-awake. The effects of a full Moon can be major or minor, depending on how they interact with your own chart. Sometimes, realisations or events that are unleashed, or unlocked, can stretch their meaning months into the future. A lot can be learned at the time of the full Moon and whether it’s lunacy or illumination, or a combination of both, there’s magic unleashed with every full Moon.

The full Moon is on Taurus 12: A YOUNG COUPLE WALK DOWN MAIN-STREET, WINDOW-SHOPPING – the following is my interpretation from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom

Commentary: ‘A Young Couple’ are walking down the ‘Main-Street, Window-Shopping’. They may be looking with hopes for the future, or perhaps they are just seeking to while away the time together. Regardless, they are an image of youth and the expectations of bigger and better things. If this ‘Young Couple’ have goals in common and a common path to share, all will be well and things will unfold naturally. It may be that in light of their social position or their financial possibilities, they can only ‘Window-Shop’ for the moment. Is this ‘Couple’ really ‘Window-Shopping’ together, or is only one of them dreaming of what they could have and how things could be better? Are they “together” or do they really want different things out of life?

Oracle: Things are probably out of reach for you at the moment, including the stability of your domestic or emotional needs, but that shouldn’t stop you looking or planning for the future. However, care may need to be taken, as jealousy and greed can rise up easily when there seems to be so much, so close and yet so far away. Enjoy the display and the quiet moments of togetherness without rush, and then get back to your real life. Realize that even though things feel far off in some way, things of inner worth are available to you, right now. Is there an issue concerning commitment to relationship, or is this a situation of just having a look to see what might be possible for the future? Now is possibly not the right time to make any firm decisions, but rather to look at all your possibilities and options. ‘Window-Shop’ a little and share your dreams. See how they can turn into reality.

Keywords: The longing for “things”. The allure of ownership. Consumerism. Trying to raise money. Worrying about the “cost” of things. Weddings and engagements. Credit cards. Finances that are shared. Shared dreams. The future and its possibilities. Young people. Planning. Shopping. The honeymoon period. So much so close and yet so far. Cinderella or the belle of the ball?

The Caution: Denying happiness because of material deficiency. “Keeping up with the Jones”. Not focusing on your partner/friend. Unsure of where one stands. Being unwilling to commit to anything just yet. Avoiding the heart of one’s relationship. Focusing on the financial side. Issues of ‘who pays for what’. Arguments over money or possessions. Merely ‘Window Shopping’ not committing. Overspending. Being in debt. Monetary distractions. Missed opportunities.

The Karmic Degree for the full Moon is Taurus 11: A WOMAN SPRINKLING LONG ROWS OF FLOWERS

This Symbol shows the need to take time to nurture your physical self. The mind needs to take a rest and the body needs to be A Woman Sprinkling Long Rows Of Flowers allowed to come to bloom and bask, a little, in the light. Keeping an eye on things that you are responsible for will ensure that they don’t dry out and fade away ahead of, or before, their time. Weeding out undesirable factors will be a necessary part of the process as will tending to those who can’t or won’t look after themselves. Quiet moments of tender care can enliven others and allow them to grow.

Keywords: Having patience and care. Nurturing and fertilizing creativity. External evidence of internal beauty. Looking after small details to reap treasures later. The Tree of Life. Stopping to smell the roses. Paying attention to detail. Flower essences. Sprinkling love and sustenance. Watering and fertilizing. Tending the soil. Care and love.

The Caution: Giving superficial attention just to keep up appearances. Neglect of things once they’re established. Giving up on projects half way through. Dehydration and neglect. Droughts or energy, love or feeling. Neglecting things in favor of other priorities. Water restrictions.

The Quest Degree for the full Moon is Taurus 13: A PORTER CARRYING A MOUNTAIN OF HEAVY BAGGAGE

Porter With Heavy Baggage LuggageThis Symbol implies someone who tends to carry the load for others. They often feel responsible for everyone and everything. The ‘Porter’ will usually spring to attention when asked to help or to shoulder the burden of other’s luggage or their baggage. In fact, you may be doing a lot to help others, but not getting much appreciation or thanks. Be wary that you are not just helping people to hang on to their extra ‘baggage’, through your desire to be useful and helpful. This can weigh them down when you are no longer available. Grinning and bearing the weight only works for so long before one tires of it.

Keywords: Self-reliance. Owning other people’s ‘garbage’. Shouldering baggage or weight. Being weighed-down. Feeling responsible for everything. Bad backs and posture. Carrying others. Counseling people, taking on their emotions. Bad backs, shoulders, knees, etc. Strain and wear. Bearing the family guilt. Luggage. Trolleys. Looking for tips.

The Caution: Being busy with other peoples’ problems. Unable to work for your own benefit. Carrying other peoples’ responsibilities. Being indispensable until the energy is all worn out. Not knowing when to say “no” to other’s demands. The burden of debts. Being useful but feeling unimportant.

The Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy – yours and others.

The Sun is on Scorpio 12: A BRILLIANT ASSEMBLY OF OFFICIALS AT AN OFFICIAL EMBASSY BALL

This Symbol implies the ability to mix with people from all over the world, to talk in different kinds of languages or travel in the The Embassy Ball circles of the elite. There’s probably an issue about being invited to the ‘right’ functions or that you’re sure of being on the list of those who gather to make decisions or call the shots. Enjoying social situations can be rewarding on many levels, however, the conditions may sometimes be caged in rather strict protocol and rules of behavior that you and others have to adhere to. Look at yourself and observe whether you are being your natural self or putting on a show for others. This can imply social climbing and political strategies.

Keywords: Political game playing. Manners and protocol. Dressing and looking right. Who knows who and what it’s worth. Social and political standing. The Cinderella story. Sparkling occasions. Knowing etiquette. Looking for social connections and outcomes that are not necessarily immediate. International relations. The “My Fair Lady” story. Social engineering. Speaking the right language.

The Caution: The habit of role-playing. Not being taught how to behave in “polite society”. Having to learn how to fit in without having instruction. Dining, drinking and enjoying life whilst others can “eat cake”. Diplomatic standoffs. Gate crashing. Feeling out of one’s depth. Political point scoring that ignores the human dimension..

The Karmic Degree for the Sun is Scorpio 11: A DROWNING PERSON IS BEING RESCUED

Drowning Man RescuedThis Symbol shows the ability, or the necessity, of helping others, being on hand when they need it and rescuing and bringing a sense of life back to people. It can show a rescuing nature; a counselor, therapist, life saver, etc. Of course, it can be that you need “Rescuing” in some way, whether it’s through counseling, getting a much needed loan, or having stress and strain lifted so that you can breathe freely again. This symbol often shows someone overpowered or overcome by their inability to cope emotionally .Often we feel like we are being suffocated, by our marriage, job, friendships, life path or the lack of these things. Know that help is at hand and soon you’ll be able to breathe easily again.

Keywords: Resuscitation. Regaining one’s breath. Finding life renewed. Asthma, bronchitis, breathing difficulties. Finding help in moments of crisis. Needing a hand. Being rescued. Salvation on any level. Ventilators. Breathing equipment. Oxygen. Dependence. Last minute reprieves. Born again experiences. Help.

The Caution: Panicking to draw help rather than learning how to cope. Unrealistic reliance on others. Getting into deep water on a regular basis. Not wanting to save yourself.

The Quest Degree for the Sun is Scorpio 13: AN INVENTOR PERFORMS A LABORATORY EXPERIMENT

This Symbol shows the ability, or necessity, of being able to take risks, to be an explorer or someone who does things rather An Inventor Performing A Laboratory Experimentdifferently than most people. It’s your job to look for creative solutions and work with them. When things are just not working, you probably need to try different combinations and different possibilities in order to have the desired result. Being willing to go out on a limb can bring all kinds of unexpected results, some wonderfully rewarding, but some, if not well considered, could end up blowing up in your face. By persevering, you will not only find solutions to complex situations, but also learn a lot from any errors you make along the way.

Keywords: Creating one’s vision. Thinking quickly and making momentary decisions. Being prepared to risk failure. Bringing different mixes of things and/or people together. May’s Scorpio full Moon falls on May 10 in the US and May 11 in Australia. It’s a pretty full-on full Moon energy-wise, and, we are likely to see all kinds of events, political, social and otherwise, from it. The main theme of this full Moon is the idea of going AWOL. Of course, there are many ways to go AWOL – absent without leave – we can say ‘no, not going to accept this, do that, stay here, perform this duty’ etc, and/or, it can show people not fulfilling their duties – the duties they ‘signed-up’ for, promised to do, vowed to stand by, etc. We (or they) can leave a situation physically, mentally or emotionally. The trick with the Sabian Symbol for this full Moon is to obey one’s conscience and not go against or beyond the dictates of what one wants to do.

This is yet another powerful lunation. We have Pluto sextiling the Moon and trining the Sun. This type of aspect, especially as it is a rather tight aspect (close to exact), can bring about big changes in our lives. We can make decisions, have events, people, situations, opportunities, etc, turn up, sometimes from out of the blue, sometimes because of the effort or work we have previously applied to our objectives. The trick with Pluto is to listen to our inner voice, our intuition, as this is how we’ll know where to next.

Mercury is now direct, after being retrograde. It has not cleared it’s shadow yet (that won’t happen until around the 21st or 22nd May), but, we are very likely to be feeling the wind more at our backs now, giving us the Ascensionimpetus to get going with plans, ideas, opportunities that we might have had on the back burner. In fact, we may want to push forward, however, careful steps one after the other are advised at the moment, especially as Mercury is conjunct (together with) Uranus. With conditions shifting, we might want to really check out our options before making commitments. Soon after this full Moon, Mercury moves out of Aries and into Taurus, and, we might get the sense that things aren’t quite as urgent as we might have thought.

Adding to the mix of wanting to get organised, solid, or, going ahead with our plans is the trine between the Mercury/Uranus conjunction and Saturn. Saturn is also on the Galactic Center, so, we’re being asked to watch our thoughts, especially as Saturn and Chiron are still in square aspect to each other. If we identify our wounds (our Stories That We Tell Ourselves), we can take the charge out of them and see things for how they really are.

Another shift that’s happening is the north node moving into Leo, where it will be until November 2018. Time to get going with our creativity, and, focus on our needs, and, it can be a time of focusing more on having fun.

Mars and Jupiter are in a nice trine aspect to each other, bring with it a sense of optimism, or, the need for it. Staying positive and watching our thoughts can bring up some interesting doors, even if we weren’t sure that they were even there. This is made even stronger by Venus and Jupiter being opposite each other around May 19-20. Venus will at that time be clearing the shadow of it’s retrograde. Curiously, and, it feels like a dose of providence or good luck, Jupiter goes direct exactly opposite the point that Venus went retrograde. This is a good thing, but, we may need to examine how much energy we should be expending as what we might really need (or want) is a rest, a holiday, some time out. I imagine that many are feeling this. Recent times have been rather trying and many are reporting that they are not sleeping well. I think the energies will calm down somewhat over the coming weeks.

Adding to the need to give things a chance to breathe before making strong moves forward is Mars and Neptune being in exact square to each other. This can bring about inspiration, illumination, a deeper spiritual purpose, etc, but, it can also have us not seeing the whole picture, and, we can misjudge conditions if we’re being a bit too fanciful or idealistic. The firm grounding of our visions is the trick here, and, measuring three times and cutting once, as the saying goes.

The full Moon is on Scorpio 21: OBEYING THEIR CONSCIENCE, A SOLDIER RESISTS ORDERS – the following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom –  This Symbol can be about leaving, or, staying, it all depends on your situation. One thing is for sure, though, we may feel like rebelling, we may want to go our own way even if it’s a matter of being castigated or shunned by some. We may feel that others are letting us down, especially if they are not living up to their responsibilities. On the political scene, this degree can play out strongly with a feeling that we have been deserted by those who should be standing by us.

Soldiers going AWOLCommentary: ‘Obeying His Conscience, a Solder Resists Orders’ is an image of someone coming to terms with the fact that he can’t perform the duty that is expected of him because it goes against the grain of who he truly is, what he truly stands for and what it is that he wants out of life. He needs to ‘Obey His Conscience’ and ‘Resist Orders’. Doing things that go against the very fabric of his being may mean he may never be able to live with himself. Indeed, he may have to go AWOL and completely leave what he’s been expected or, indeed, trained to do.

Oracle: We sometimes find that society has drawn up rules and regulations to live by that are inappropriate for our inner world. When this happens, we find ourselves compromised if we are expected to follow through or act on them. This Symbol speaks of the need to occasionally ‘Disobey’ the structures of society and what is expected. You may find yourself in a situation where expectations put on you go directly against your values. There is often the difficult choice between allegiance (to a relationship, a job, a country, etc) and your own inner beliefs, truths, objectives and ambitions. True freedom can only be found within when one faces these situations with a sense of integrity and a full understanding of the consequences that are possible. Are you aware of and prepared for any consequences that may come from a refusal to comply or conform to what others want? What “punishments” may come from refusing to ‘Obey Orders’? What are the ‘Orders’, who makes them and who is responsible for them when they’re carried out? There can be confusion around relationships, resulting in difficulties in following what society says should be done. Is it a longing for a return to a pure state of love that freezes you? Are you prepared to stand your ground and uphold your values?

Keywords: Personal morality. Doing what one’s conscience dictates. Going against the status quo. Doing the unexpected. Going by the promptings of the inner voice. The consequences of having a conscience. Not coming home. People clinging to each other. Love that restrains.

The Caution: Displaying cowardice or a lack of courage to act. Not doing what one is expected to do. ‘Going over the top’ in a wild and crazy way. Going AWOL. Being the one who lets everyone down. Court Martials. Antisocial behavior. Anarchists. Being “uncommitted” or “unavailable”. Choosing play instead of duty. Goofing off.

The Karmic Degree for the full Moon is Scorpio 20: A WOMAN DRAWING ASIDE TWO DARK CURTAINS THAT CLOSED THE ENTRANCE TO A SACRED PATHWAY – the feminine – issues to do with women can be strong with this degree. The sense of wanting, or needing, to go down a different pathway can arise. The rights of women can be a major focus with this degree.

This Symbol shows the ability or the need to be able to draw aside confusions or obstructions that impede your path or stop you from realizing where you could be or A Woman Drawing Aside Two Dark Curtains That Closed The Entrance To A Sacred Pathway
go. You, either alone or with others, may feel the need to venture down new “Pathways” or investigate new possibilities, but you will have to muster faith and overcome fear to enter these new realms, these “Sacred” places. You will require both courage and inquisitive desire. Venturing down these paths make it clear that your sphere of operation and action will become vastly enlarged with the new perspective that opens for you.

Keywords: Mysteries revealed, sometimes after a long wait. Feminine mysteries laid out before you. Woman’s reproductive organs, especially the vagina. The mysteries of the Goddesses. Getting past things that are cloaked or shielded from entry or view. Sexual mysteries. Open Sesame. Clairvoyant readings that reveal the ‘Path’. Invitations to the unknown. Drawing aside inhibitions. Following through on things. Undressing.

The Caution: Being seduced into dark and sinister things or being led astray. Not being shown the true picture or the truth. Frigidity and closing off sexual responses. Being, or feeling, shut out. Dark rooms with little sign of life.

The Quest Degree for the full Moon is Scorpio 22: HUNTERS PROTECTED BY HEAVY CLOTHING ARE SHOOTING WILD DUCKS – this can be a difficult degree, depending on what side of the equation one is on. We may feel like we are being taken advantage of, and, we might have  a sense of danger arising. This degree can show the need to protect animals, birds, etc.

Duck-HuntingThis Symbol implies the need for protection of those innocent or younger, smaller, or not able to protect themselves. Being an advocate for others, you can shield them from the more harmful elements of society. You may, at times, feel that you are…

The Aries Full Moon: A Time Of Awakenings, Arousal, Ambition and Anger Starring Uranus And Eris

The Aries full Moon occurs on October 16, and, it’s a big one with Uranus and Eris smack up against it. It’s the last full Moon before the US presidential elections, and, all sorts of interesting, new, intense, alarming, shocking, irritating, provoking, etc, things are likely to pop up. With Uranus and Eris along for the ride, it could feel a lot like a roller-coaster, a type of liberation, or, an earthquake. As always, with Uranus so strongly in the mix, it is impossible to say exactly what will happen, but most certainly, a lot of things are going to get a good shake-up. Many things could radically change, or, at least, we might get the sense that some situations, issues, relationships, commitments, etc, need to have a complete overhaul.

This full Moon is exactly conjunct Eris, the goddess of discord, strife, chaos, militantism Eris and Uranusand taking on battles, indeed warring for a cause. Her name is the equivalent of the Latin “discordia”. From Wikipedia: The dwarf planet is named after the goddess Eris, as is the religion Discordianism….the following is from Wikipedia:

In Hesiod’s Works and Days 11–24, two different goddesses named Eris are distinguished:
So, after all, there was not one kind of Strife alone, but all over the earth there are two. As for the one, a man would praise her when he came to understand her; but the other is blameworthy: and they are wholly different in nature. For one fosters evil war and battle, being cruel: her no man loves; but perforce, through the will of the deathless gods, men pay harsh Strife her honour due.

But the other is the elder daughter of dark Night (Nyx), and the son of Cronus who sits above and dwells in the aether, set her in the roots of the earth: and she is far kinder to men. She stirs up even the shiftless to toil; for a man grows eager to work when he considers his neighbour, a rich man who hastens to plough and plant and put his house in good order; and neighbour vies with his neighbour as he hurries after wealth. This Strife is wholesome for men. And potter is angry with potter, and craftsman with craftsman and beggar is jealous of beggar, and minstrel of minstrel.

I include the two quotes from Hesiod’s works in order to show that this is what is happening very much in society at the moment. Women’s issues are at the fore, and, we are having conversations that many of us might have thought that we should be finished with by now. The rights of women are front and center in a lot of what is coming up, socially and politically. Eris is being stirred up by Uranus, and this energy seems to be saying ‘enough!’.

Read more on Wikipedia about Eris: click here

Uranus and Eris have been together since mid 2016, and, we can see how much women’s issues; issues to do with rape, being sexually assaulted, side-lined and marginalised, abused in so many ways, etc, have come into sharp focus. In fact, a lot of anger has been brewing and releasing, releasing and brewing, over the course of the last several months. So now we have the full Moon exactly together with (conjunct) Eris (and Uranus), throwing up the energies and bringing up issues to do with justice, equality and fairness and women’s rights. From Hesiod’s quoted text above, we can see that people are pitted against people, along gender issues, political issues, etc, and the energies have ramped up so much that sometimes it’s difficult to see where the anger, upset or sense of outrage even begins.

Gender issues or not, the old political maxim of “divide and conquer” is being used to great effect nowadays, as it has been used for a long time, only things seem to be heating up in so many ways that it can feel more urgent, more dividing, more now-is-the-time.

Mercury, on this full Moon, is on Libra 16: AFTER A STORM, A BOAT LANDING STANDS IN NEED OF RECONSTRUCTION, and it is exactly square Pluto. This can bring up a lot of intense energies as well. There may be a general feeling of wanting to ‘get to the bottom of things’, to delve into situations, relationships, memories, etc, in order to find the truth, or, perhaps to reveal the secrets that we want to find those answers for. It’s interesting to note that the Sun was on this degree when hurricane Matthew hit Haiti and the east coast of the US. We may find that this full Moon brings an eruption of anger, ambition and people pushing their agendas. Certainly, feelings are likely to be ramped up considerably.

And, Mars is in the mix with Mercury and Pluto, and, just a few days after the full Moon, Mars and Pluto meet up on Capricorn 16: BOYS AND GIRLS IN GYMNASIUM SUITS – ‘locker room conversations’, or, respect for the sexes from both sides.

A Sword In A MuseumThe Saturn/Neptune square that we’ve been experiencing for month after month lately is now finishing up. THAT will lighten up the energies considerably, which will be a relief for many. The last few years have felt to many as if we are trying to navigate through quicksand; we weren’t sure if what we were seeing was real, or, we were trying to see what wasn’t there with phantoms, ghosts and apparitions when we needed to see what was real, what was truly in front of us, what was actually happening.

It IS a relief that this square is now winding down, but, many people are frustrated (some downright angry) with their outcomes, or, issues where they feel that they were misled, lied to or taken advantage of. On the other hand, some people, of course, are coming out of this period having made their dreams into reality, but, that has taken quite a considerable amount of plowing through, and, probably a decent amount of good luck thrown in for good measure.

To listen to my rave on the Saturn/Neptune squareclick here. Even though this long transit is finished, we are still processing all of this.

The full Moon each month
marks a time of heightened energies and events.

The Sabian Symbols for this full Moon tell an amazing story…

The full Moon is on Aries 24: AN OPEN WINDOW AND A NET CURTAIN BLOWING INTO THE SHAPE OF A CORNUCOPIA – the following is from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom

An Open Window And A Net Curtain Turning Into A Cornucopia painting by Gunseli KapucuCommentary:
‘An Open Window and a Net Curtain Blowing into the Shape of a Cornucopia’ is a Symbol of abundance and prosperity. Abundantia was a Roman goddess of abundance, prosperity and good fortune. She has the ‘Cornucopia’, the “horn of plenty”, from which she distributes grain, money, fruits, flowers and food. In fact, all that one truly wants is represented as sitting in the “horn”. The wind blows in the ‘Open Window’ and reminds us of the beauty, joy and richness of life.

Oracle: We often long for those things that we want and this Symbol shows that something is most probably coming your way. ‘An Open Window and a Net Curtain’ suggests that with the slightest change of direction in the wind, our fortunes can change. Quite possibly something is coming that has many promises. What actually arrives on your doorstep may or may not be exactly what was wished for, but it is very likely to be somehow rewarding. How wonderful and yet surprising would it be if what you wanted actually did manifest? This could be a time of the realization and enjoyment of layers of spiritual nourishment. The ‘Blowing’ of wind often implies spiritual agencies coming in. ‘Open’ your mind to the possibilities that are being ‘Blown’ in from the realm of spirit. The rewards can be plentiful, full of promise and self-sustaining. Be wary, however, of merely drifting and imagining that the big jackpot is going to just fall out of the sky. Buying the ticket helps to win the lottery. Look for unusual or extraordinary opportunities in the signatures of things around. Picture what you want and project it out into the world with the full intention of it being fulfilled. What you want may just manifest itself in front of you.

Keywords: Imagination. Keeping your options open. The promise of fruition. The breath of life filled with inspiration. Realizing that in everyday life, one has it all. Windows of opportunity. Gain, abundance, riches. Spiritual energies pouring in. Concentrated energy. Seeing desires taking shape. Curtains and windows.

The Caution: Relying on spiritual ideas to provide material sustenance. Dreaming of things dropping into one’s lap. Hoping that good luck will just ‘blow in’. Shutting windows, keeping light and life out. Drawing curtains and withdrawing. Promises, promises.

The Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy – yours and others.

The Karmic Degree for the full Moon is Aries 23: A WOMAN IN PASTEL COLORS CARRYING A HEAVY AND VALUABLE BUT VEILED LOAD

Woman in pastel colours carrying a heavy loadThis Symbol shows issues of going to a great deal of effort to conceal from others things that are very important. This could be heavy responsibilities that have been placed on you. You may feel that you have succeeded in shouldering these burdens without others knowing, but in fact it may be apparent to others in the way the burden of your secret is affecting your behavior. It may be necessary to share the load. Are you truly participating in life? Do you always put on a happy face regardless of what’s going on? Wearing black versus pastel colors.

Keywords: Privacy. Quiet determination to get on with the job. Mild manners. Carrying more than one’s share, gratefully or grudgingly. Shouldering problems. Bad backs. Victim status – poor me! Secret pregnancies. Doing overtime. Heavy loads. Smiling against the odds. Pastel colors. Codes of silence.

The Caution: Trying to cover up distrust and greed. Keeping ones thoughts and emotions locked in can create dis-ease. Feeling unnoticed or unworthy or weak. Bad backs

The Quest Degree for the full Moon is Aries 25: A DOUBLE PROMISE REVEALS ITS INNER AND OUTER MEANINGS

This Symbol shows that what at first appears to be may reveal itself to actually be something A Double Promise Reveals Its Inner And Outerelse. Simple promises can be more complicated than first thought. The rational and emotional responses can conflict with each other; one wants something, the other wants something else. However, this can be the way to really view things, from an inner and outer perspective. Also indicates the choice that arises – of the heart and of social obligation. Realize the implications of expectations and promises.

Keywords: Rewards, but what do they bring with them? The possible implications of or reasons for any promises. Something that may look good on the outside, but prove to be difficult. Looking for consensus. Possibilities and promises. The ins and outs of situations. Not turning up. The need to look at situations from all sides. Internal vs. external realities. Catch-22 situations. Contracts.

The Caution: Fickleness, insincerity and two-facedness in human relationships. Promising more than can be delivered. Not turning up. Having hidden agendas.

August’s new Moon occurs on the 2nd in the US and the UK, and on the 3rd in Australia
. It’s a very meaningful lunation, and one that is bound to bring all kinds of energies to the table. The new Moon is in a trine aspect with Saturn, which can have us feeling the need to get organised, to lighten our loads, to free up energies that have been seemingly stationary for some time. Saturn is stationing direct (it is turning direct in mid August), and is spending several days on Sagittarius 10: A Golden Haired Goddess Of Opportunity. For a start, this feels like the nomination of Hillary Clinton – it can also feel like Donald Trump, as his hair is often mentioned. Both candidates are certainly darlings of the media and get a lot of media attention. And, the media is often involved with this Symbol.

Saturn is in a square aspect with Neptune. This can bring us face-to-face with our dreams, illusions, ideals, etc, and there can be a feeling of crashing and burning – at least on some level. There can be a sense of dismay, depression even, and, we can feel like the world is going in ‘the wrong direction’. A realignment with ‘faith’, whatever that means to the individual, may be needed, along with the need to drop judgements, to drop the worrying, to lighten your load. One has to laugh, even if one wants to cry. Shattered illusions could have us wondering if things will ever get better and we may be wondering what is true and what is false. As always, it comes down to our perspective.

Sword Swallower Truth Swallow saying

It seems that there is a lot of cognitive dissonance going on. We can be confronted with information and just not see it. It’s like so many are standing in the forest and not seeing the trees. It’s a very interesting time, and, it’s a stressful time, and, I sense that no one is immune to the shape-shifting that’s going on, in the political and social arenas, as well as in our emotions and personal lives. Soon, Mercury will come into the picture with Saturn, Neptune and the Moon’s nodes, adding to the sense of push-me pull-you that’s been going on. We may have to take off our blinders, to remove our ‘veil’ in order to see more clearly. Certainly, we will be pushed to make decisions and we might decide that some things need to be dropped from our lives, OR, we may have that decision made for us.

Adding to all of this is Venus and Mars squaring each other. At least Mars has left Scorpio, which is a relief, but, of course, it is heading for a conjunction with Saturn, again, and this can have us coming up against reality in a way that we may have suspected was going to happen, but, perhaps, we were hoping wasn’t. It’s all good, though, we continue to put one foot in front of the other and continue to move forward. 🙂 (Read: no choice!).

Venus going through the last degrees of Leo can have us wondering where the fabulous relationship that we’ve been wanting or waiting for is. Perhaps, as we already know, it’s with ourselves 🙂

Adding to some of the frustrations that might be felt is Jupiter in a quincunx aspect with Uranus – it’s like ‘get me out of here’, and, yet, not being able to find the door, let alone the runway. Jupiter is moving into an opposition with Chiron, and this can signal the ending of some situations, relationships, dreams, etc, especially with Jupiter on Virgo 25: A Flag At Half Mast In Front Of A Public Building and Chiron on Pisces 25: The Purging Of The Priesthood. We can see evidence of this already in the social and political lives of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Turkey… so many places and situations around the world. = Interesting times!

Neptune is conjuncting the Moon’s south node. This can bring up all kinds of issues, karmic or otherwise, from the past. We may feel like we’re in a weird movie, and, perhaps we are. Releasing the ties that bind from the past, whether they are emotions , relationships, memories, traumas, dreams, etc. Of course, as mentioned above, Saturn is squaring both Neptune and the Moon’s nodes, so, it’s probably a good idea to knuckle down, do the work and wait what might seem like a rough patch out.

Having said all of that (and, there’s always more to be said), we do have Mars going into Sagittarius, which, for sure, is going to feel better than it’s recent three month sojourn in Scorpio. Also, we do have a Leo new Moon here, and, although it does have it’s challenges, it surely speaks of having fun, lightening up, letting go, playing, being playful, being creative and all the wonderful things that Leo can bring us.

New Moon GlyphThe new Moon is on Leo 11: CHILDREN ON A SWING IN THE SAFETY OF A HUGE OAK TREE – the following is the full interpretation of this degree from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom –

Children On A Swing In The Safety Of A Huge Oak Tree vintage

Commentary: ‘Children on a Swing in the Safety of a Huge Oak Tree’ brings to mind images of ‘Children’ playing, having fun together and being protected by the big branches of the ‘Huge Oak Tree’. ‘Oak Trees’ infer enormous strength. The ‘Oak’s’ strength, the hardness and durability of the timber, and their long life give the Oak a special significance. In England, the Oak has been referred to as the “Monarch of the Forest”. Cowthorpe Oak in Yorkshire can hold 70 people in its hollow. It is said to be over 1,600 years old. The Ellerslie Oak, near Paisley, is reported to have sheltered Sir William Wallace and 300 of his men. Honour Oak, Whitchurch, Tavistock was the place where money was left in exchange for food during the cholera epidemic of 1832.

Oracle: It is easier to enjoy carefree, childlike play when one’s ‘Safety’ and care is assured. Protective environments are the places where playgrounds can be created. In this Symbol it is the very structure of the things around you or even your particular location that provides the ‘Safety’ that’s needed. By the very nature of things, safe surroundings can take care of everyone. Institutions like the Social Security system are similar to the ‘Oak Tree’. Religions and social organizations can also provide this protected environment for people. In general, it is security and protection that needs to be afforded to us for us to follow our true path. Look for the stability and strength in your situation, and expand your wishes and dreams into that protected environment. This Symbol can indicate being relieved from responsibility. This is a good time to relax into playing with others. Feel ‘Safe’ in the knowledge that everything will remain secure. Keep in touch with the innocence and openness of youthful play.

Keywords: Creativity in safe surroundings. Being protected and privileged. Social security and other forms of governmental protection. Agencies that bring food, education and basic needs to children in difficult circumstances. Children, trees, grass, swings, parks. Amusement parks. Childhood memories. Climbing trees. Spontaneous activity. Humanitarian agencies. Security coming through family. Safe confines.

The Caution: Expecting others to take all the responsibility while one just plays. Children not being looked after. Disadvantaged people. Desertion by government and big business. Not wanting to grow up. Always relying on others to provide fun, safety or shelter.

The Karmic Degree for the Moon is Leo 10: EARLY MORNING DEW SALUTES THE SUNLIGHT

Morning dew in balboa park

This Symbol shows the relief, joy and motivation that can come from going through cold and difficult times, even dark struggles, and waking up to things being “sunnier”, warmer and full of promise. This is a time when the “air” (the newly awakened mind) is crisp and the “ground” (the refreshed and renewed body) readies itself for a new round of activity. The rewards may be transitory, so enjoy the good times and salute the more difficult periods as times of testing and learning. The nights may seem very long but there is always the reward of dawn as the sun rises again on a brand new day.

Keywords: Refreshment after periods of “the long night of the soul”. Dawn meditations bringing new starts and new inspiration. Dew. Water dripping from trees. The dawning of a new day and the relief that it can bring. Changing of the guard. Natural progression. Inheritances. Exalted feelings of release. Droplets on spiderwebs.

The Caution: Not letting go of difficult situations. Persisting with problems that could have been solved. Feeling that the worst is going to happen, even though things are lightening up. Being afraid of the night. Staying up all night, being upset or unable to sleep. Gloominess. Staying in bed well into the day. Leaving the light on all night.

The Quest Degree for the new Moon is Leo 12: AN EVENING LAWN PARTY OF ADULTS

Lawn Party

This Symbol shows having fun, relaxing and socializing with people, usually in an informal setting, although this can sometimes imply formal ones. Give the rigors of the work routine a rest. Having a drink, eating some food, sharing a chat and gossip, meeting new people, networking and catching up with friends is good for the soul. Relaxation is great, especially where there is no need for pretense. Of course, you may be the host of the party and you may have to provide a venue, food, drinks and entertainment. Still, you should get to enjoy the moment and mix with people.

Keywords: Rising above superficiality into receptivity and peace with others. People mixing in a social setting. Sedate and conservative celebrations. Formal events vs. impromptu gatherings. Gossip. Leisure time. Political correctness. Enjoying socializing. Being a good conversationalist. Drinks and food on platters. Knowing who to invite.

The Caution: A sense of superficiality where things are known but not said out loud. Appearance and social standing taking on too much importance. Ignoring real and immediate issues. Not knowing how to act with the “adults”. Malicious gossip. Having to face those you don’t want to see. Getting drunk and “out of bounds”. False fronts.

Moon symbolizes: Emotions, moods, mother, family, clan, domestic issues, relationship to home and country. Feelings, sentiments, nourishment, emotional nurturing, monkey chatter mind, lunar and menstrual cycles, clarity of emotions or lunacy. Female energy – yours and others.

Mercury is on Virgo 5: A PERSON BECOMING AWARE OF NATURE SPIRITS AND NORMALLY UNSEEN SPIRITUAL ENERGIES

A Man Becoming Aware Of Nature Spirits And Normally Unseen Spiritual Energies

This Symbol implies strong feelings of another level of awareness around you. Your rational mind is, at times, being overshadowed by intuitive thoughts and feelings. Your imagination or spirituality is showing a clearer path to understanding and knowledge. Equipped to see the invisible, you penetrate into the mystical levels of life. There may be messages to bring back into your waking consciousness. This can show a creative, attuned mind that can perceive subtle phenomena, shifts and changes in the environment. Tap into your clairvoyance, but don’t be thrown off track by it.

Keywords: Creative fantasies. Attuned minds perceiving subtle phenomena. Fairy tales. Seeing things or imagining them. Fantasizing. Seeing entities. Mental institutions. Halloween. Fairies, nature spirits. Seeing the normally unseen.

The Caution: Confusion or a lack of true perspective. Time wasted. Being a space cadet. Losing the plot. Mental institutions. Not being taken seriously. Schizophrenia.

The Karmic Degree for Mercury is Virgo 4: BLACK AND WHITE CHILDREN PLAYING HAPPILY TOGETHER

Black And White Children Playing

This Symbol shows the integration of people of different races, religions, economic status or  places. You may find people from different or seemingly disparate or separate areas coming into your life, making it richer, more rewarding and interesting. Prejudice of any kind, whether religious or race based, economic or class systems, is an illusion based on social perception and excludes people that could add to our lives. Social perceptions can color how we see others and these need to be put aside. Rather, it’s about embracing brotherhood and caring. The integration, acceptance and enjoyment of all people brings depth and meaning to life.

Keywords: Universal brotherhood. Overcoming prejudices and boundaries that separate people. Knocking down social barriers to relate freely. Being able to let go, relax and have fun with people from anywhere. Adopted siblings. Foster homes. Affirmative action. Trust and joy. Play that unites people.

The Caution: Acting with morality that is swayed by public opinion. Not being able to adjust psychologically to situations that require creative responses. Racial prejudice.

The Quest Degree for Mercury is Virgo 6: A MERRY-GO-ROUND

Merry Go Round

This Symbol shows situations that keep returning to the same place without ever seeming to progress, like you’re on a “Merry-Go-Round”. Just when you think you see a way out or off, you find yourself back where you were. However, you are, at least in some way, progressing as each time you return you have had the opportunity of looking around you and realizing and learning more and more about life and other possibilities. You must make a decision: do you want to keep going round and round or are you prepared to take a leap of faith and jump off the “Merry-Go-Round” and start making some real progress?

A reunion can ignite feelings of camaraderie, companionship and triumph, sometimes along with great passions. As these are “Retired Army Veterans”, it’s through the passing of time and with the hindsight of age that many things can be faced, healed and laid to rest. In going over the memories of ‘old battles’ you may find the clues for current ones. However, this degree can show going over and over old hurts, injuries, diseases, etc. The trick also is not to see others as the ‘enemy’, but rather see in everyone the possibility of friendship.

You may find that surface emotions get whipped up and this can led to concerns that are disproportionate to the depth of the situation. Emotions, intelligence and situations probably have a far deeper sense of strength and permanence than it may seem. Get below the surface where things are calmer and more stable. Self-discipline and mastery are needed, along with being well rehearsed for what you are doing. There’s a need to put fear behind you and to go for it – perhaps rushing in where angels fear to tread. Sometimes the search for high ideals and understanding places us at odds with the more conservative social expectations of others. It is the ability to persevere with the search, regardless of the cost, that marks the sincerity of any path or journey. We are uplifted by the symbolic memory of past deeds of valor, although stings of defeat may be part of the story. You may be faced with the choice of fighting or reasoning which is confused by your lack of training or experience in the ways of “Battle”. Don’t go down with the ship. At this time, you’re likely to find yourself leaving others behind, kicking them out, or experiencing falls from grace. Periodically, there is a need to examine moral and spiritual sincerity. It is easy to allow those who don’t really belong to stay because of familiarity or habit. We can lose sight of the ideal through our rationalizing intellect, ego and emotive passion. No matter how well people get along, people still have to compromise and give and take in order to sustain good community relations. Drawn together by similar hopes and ambitions it is ironic that sometimes compromise is the only way to successful coexistence. If this is not operating on a positive level in your life you may want to assess where you need to be doing it. Sometimes our thoughts get out of control, even “Hysterical”, however this is not much use as emotions and events just get whipped up, leading to useless energy flying around. Things Are Truly Heating Up: May’s Sagittarian Full Moon

Lynda Hill’s Sabian Symbol

May 19, 2016

Thou shalt not separate thy being from BEING, and the rest, but merge the Ocean in the deep, the drop within the Ocean. H.P. Blavatsky

Don’t think there are no crocodiles because the water is calm. Malayan Proverb

The winds and the waves are always on the side of the ablest navigators. Edward Gibbon

Always behave like a duck—keep calm and unruffled on the surface but paddle like the devil underneath. Jacob Braude

Still waters run deep. Proverb

Below raging waves, the depths of the ocean do not churn as does its surface. Down there, temperature, depth and salinity create the hydrodynamics. Philip Sedgwick

The populace is like the sea motionless in itself, but stirred by every wind, even the lightest breeze. Titus Livius

May’s full Moon in Sagittarius is an enormous one – a real doozy. It is going to be a bit of a wild ride, particularly on the world stage. Mars is exactly conjunct (together with) this new Moon, ramping up feelings, responses, events, etc, and driving energies that may sometimes be a little hard to handle (or to get a grip on). The full Moon falls on May 21 in the United States and May 22 in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Mars is retrograde, and, about to re-enter Scorpio, where it will be for some months. This is likely to bring up issues from the past. We also have Lilith entering Scorpio right now. Something about this is that we could find ourselves being rather angry at the establishment, heated-up about being held down, wanting to protect ‘the feminine’.
We not only have Mars smack on the full Moon (which means that it’s exactly opposing the Sun as well as conjunct the Moon), but, we also have Jupiter and Saturn squaring off. This brings up issues to do with expansion versus contract, the new versus the old, the rights of the individual up against the structures of the establishment. The Sabian Symbols, as always, are extremely telling and amazing. To top this off, there is a t-square between Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune – bringing our dreams to reality may be a test, a real test, with some opposing what we might see as the ideal. Often, with a configuration like this, we are being asked to be patient, to really look to the things we are wanting in our lives, to see if they stand up to the test of reality (= time).
The Sabian Symbols for Venus are wonderful, though, for, as long as we place a strong sense of value on ourselves (and others), we can find renewed love, romance, possibilities, second chances, etc. We can find partnership and peace through Venus. Venus is not always about peace, though, as without Venus, Mars wouldn’t go to war. However, this placement of Venus is wonderful.
Chiron is on a degree that the Moon’s south node spent months on recently. It speaks about ‘purging the priesthood’ – throwing out those things, people, relationships, etc, that no longer work for us.
Pluto is trining the Moon’s north node (which means, of course, that it is sextiling the Moon’s south node), bringing issues to do with power, transformation, big business, big money, the Plutocracy, etc, into high focus. This is a powerful configuration and it can work wonders for us in that we can gain a stronger sense of what we are capable of – along with who we truly are – but, it can also bring up battles when it comes to those who are ‘at the top’.
